University of Ruse is an autonomous state-funded higher educational institution with about 10,000 students and 499 highly qualified full-time lecturers. Ranks among the first three Bulgarian universities regarding the number of implemented international projects, student and staff exchanges and financial contribution from international activities.

The Faculty of Natural Sciences and Education offers a range of teacher education programmes at BA, MA and PhD level. Strongly student-centred and committed to excellence in its teaching and research. Its high-quality pre- and in-service teacher education and training programmes include a wide range of topics: assessment for learning in the primary and secondary school classroom, implementation of student-focused methods, teaching learners with special needs, etc. Leading role in teacher induction on national and international level.

The Department of Computing – longstanding experience as initiator and coordinator of a number of national & international projects – e.g. “Development of e-Forms for Distance Learning at the University of Ruse”, 4 European thematic networks – European Computing Education and TR Training (ECET), Doctoral Education in Computing (DEC), Teaching, Research and Innovation (TRICE) and Future Education and Training in Computing: How to Support Learning at Anytime Anywhere (FETCH).

Tsvetelina Harakchiyska

Tsvetelina Harakchiyska has considerable experience in pre-and in-service teacher training and assessment as a result of participation and coordination of teacher training projects. Prominent skills in the design of teacher training materials with a particular focus on inclusivity, intercultural communication and key transversal skills. As part of her professional field of expertise and research interests she has thorough knowledge in the specification of methodological approaches for the development of the student-centred paradigm which are in line with national policies within training and professional programmes for teachers, trainers and students.

Angel Smrikarov

Angel Smrikarov, head of the University Science and Research Complex. Coordinator of Bulgarian Virtual University. Manager of project “Development of e-Forms for Distance Learning at the University of Ruse”. Currently he is the coordinator of the European Thematic Network Future Education and Training in Computing: How to Support Learning at Anytime Anywhere (FETCH) and former coordinator of three European thematic networks TN ECET, ETN DEC, ETN TRICE. He also participated in projects under other programmes like Leonardo da Vinci and Comenius. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an adaptable and flexible attitude to work. Team spirit gained through experience as team manager. All the above mentioned will allow him to coordinate the quality implementation of all project activities, in which UR is involved.

Stoyanka Smrikarova

Stoyanka Smrikarova Coordinator and manager of a series of projects under the TEMPUS, SOCRATES, Leonardo da Vinci programmes. Highly motivated individual. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Team work: her experience of working within international teams has helped develop the knowledge to effectively work with people from different countries and cultures.  Intercultural skills: Ability to adapt to multicultural environments, gained though work experience abroad. Presentation skills: good skills in organizing and performing activities. Leadership: Good experience in project and team management. Great sense of organisation gained from the development of large international projects.
